Broken Prayer - WOW b/w Pull A Kaczynski, Dead Possession #2 (for real this time), and the Menanites demo will be releasing Wednesday January 2nd.  Expect a huge distro update with Green Beret LPs, Weird TV LPs, some Skrapyard Mixtapes, and a bunch of other malarkey.

Welcome to 2012 (now Welcome To 2013) comp to be released in February, alongside HAHA! #1, the Ooze Tape, and possibly a few others.

Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks, true believers.

Not Normal Tapes proudly presents the Zodiacs demo and the RazorXFade repress. Also updated with some cool package deals and a slew of distro shit. Other notables include the final comp line-up and some clarifications in the subscription department.

NNT#00X - RazorXFade - S/T LP - After far too long a time, RazorXFade's stellar S/T LP is available again. For a short period, the 'Fades were the greatest band in Chicago and were certainly the world's finest in terms of Straight Edge. Musically and ethically they sounded off like a Craig Ahead driven Negative Approach. While other current SxE bands have contented themselves with worrying about the scene and endless T-Shirt designs, RazorXFade blurred the lines between hardcore and punk, combining sincere and uncompromising progressive politics with a seemingly conflicting shame and disgust for humanity.

This repress is a limited run, so don't sleep, True Believers.

NNT#018 - Zodiacs - Demo - Zodiacs, along with Side FX, are the ushers of the new age of Indianapolis HC and one listen to their demo will make you understand why. Super burly vocals spit rage over Donny's incredible Shipwrecked-meets-CCM guitar riffs. Destroy your local basement to SOP, chumps.

Next ten subscribers gets one of these VERY limited RazorXFade splatter variants. For free! Subscribing is the only way to get your hands on one, so please don't message me about purchasing it straight up.

NNT News/New Releases

Long time, true believers.  Sorry for the delay,  NNHQ recently moved to the big city, and as a result has fallen behind on giving you the news you crave.

First things first, I know we're behind on distro orders.  All outstanding distro will ship this week.  Sorry for any delays.

The bandcamp has been updated with tracks from our next three releases.  The entire Zodiacs Demo and Broken Prayer single have been posted, along with a few tracks from our next comp.

NNT#018 - The Zodiacs will finally be releasing this weekend, just in time for Indianapolis's My Friends, The Pit Fest.  Go see them along with fellow Indy idiots Side FX, Denver miscreants Negative Degree, Civilized, and Cadaver Dog, and Western Massholes Hoax.  This isn't one to miss.

NNT#019 - Broken Prayer - WOW b/w Pull A Kaczynski has been sent to the pressing plant.  Expect a late-Fall release on this masterpiece, and pick up their LP when it releases on Sorry State in late '12/early '13.

NNT#020 - Welcome to 2012 is rounding out pretty nicely.  Containing tracks from all over the world, and releasing just in time for its end, this is one that's not to be missed.

The represses of NNT#00X - RazorXFade are at the pressing plant right now.  For those of you missed out the first time around, here's your chance.  Don't wait too long, only 225 are being cut this time around.

That's all for now.  Expect a distro update to accompany The Zodiacs release this weekend.  Stay punk.

Self Abuse/Side FX Now Available

The title says it all.  The next two Not Normal Releases are now available.

NNT#016 -  Self Abuse - Demo - American repress of Sweden's Self Abuse 2010 Demo. Seven burly, pissed off tracks, along the lines of 86 Mentality or Urban Blight, the soundtrack for idiot skins to break bottles against walls. Get this shit!!!

NNT#017 - Side FX - Demo - The new era of Indianapolis Hardcore is here. Side FX (ex-Picked Clean) has graciously bestowed upon us four tracks of snottified, Straight Ahead worship, the lead singer sounding off like some petulant child. The real deal.

Get this shit before someone else does.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For those of you who snoozed and losed (or is snost and lost), we still have Poison Planet, Recide, and Condenada tapes available as well.

NNT#012 - Condenada - Discografia - After two records, the rumors were swirling (mostly among our own lame brained friends) that we had forgotten our proud and (self)-lauded trade of tape making.  Nonsense ramblings from a buncha fucking mutants, and we're proud to announce our return to the tape world, Condenada - Discografia.  15 track pro-tape covering their entire recorded output (Condenada EP, split w/ Sin Orden, Mother Tongue, and an abandoned split w/ CA's Bruise Violet).  Absolutely punishing, driving hardcore punk from Chicago, these ladies were/are a force to be reckoned with.  Do yourself a favor and pick this up.

NNT#013 - Recide - II - The great nation of Texas has long been home to some of history's greatest HC Punk bands.  Recide continues that proud tradition by blasting through seven tracks in under seven minutes of Koro/Void influenced jams.  No nonsense, no frills, just the anxiety and desperation spawned from being young weirdos from the middle of nowhere.

NNT #015 - Poison Planet - Boycott Everything EP - Our first co-release (w/ ThirdXParty Records) is the American pressing of Poison Planet - Boycott Everything.  Originally pressed as a 7" on Refuse Records out of Europe for Poison Planet's European tour in June 2011, the US version has been a year long project. The band felt that the 7" format lacked the visual impact that they intended and the lyrics and art had been rushed. The US version is a one sided 12" EP, with a screen printed "B" side. The front and back cover art have been updated and the lyric sheet has expanded from a small jam packed insert that was just columns of white text on a black background to include relevant imagery and additional essays. Lastly, to add to the final package they've included a 24"x36" black and white poster.

Comparisons are consistently made to early 80's Boston hardcore, early Corrosion of Conformity, The Repos, and with this release an emerging element of Dead Kennedys influence.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For this most recent update, we also stocked up on tons of great shit from Feral Kid, Feeble Minds, Pass Judgement, Shogun, Katorga Works, SPHC, and many others.  Head over to http://notnormal.bigcartel.com/ and get 'em while they're hot.

Not Normal Update v. 1000000

Hey true believers,  quick update here.

The Poison Planet - Boycott Everything EP is out.  If you haven't picked this rager up yet, do yourself a favor.

1st press of 500. Black vinyl with B side screen print.

Stocked up on some awesome records from Perennial and Katorga Works, some tapes from Sorry State, and some other little odds and ends.  Another distro update will be popping up in the coming weeks.

Up Next: Self Abuse, Side FX, Zodiacs

Futuresight: Death of procrastination, bitter homecoming, a network of friends.

Saturday, March 10, 2012

It's been over two months since I've updated, but please believe we've been busy as hell.  Lot's going on over at NNHQ, so I'll just get right to it.

First things first, our two newest releases.  The Condenada tape is officially out.  Total discography of one my all time favorite Chicago Hardcore bands.  This one is not to be missed.

NNT#012 - After two records, the rumors were swirling (mostly among our own lame brained friends) that we had forgotten our proud and (self)-lauded trade of tape making.

The Recide demos are nearing completion.  Endless apologies to all pre-orders, but thanks for holding tight for this certified rager.
NNT#013 - The great nation of Texas has long been home to some of history's greatest HC Punk bands. Recide continues that proud tradition by blasting through seven tracks in under seven minutes of Koro/Void influenced jams. No nonsense, no frills, just the anxiety and desperation spawned from being young weirdos from the middle of nowhere.

*Note on the aforementioned delay: Because our methods have improved and NAC's turnaround time and customer service have deteriorated, future tape releases will again be dubbed in house.  Hopefully this prevents situations like this from happening in the future.*
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next, the Boycott Everything EP is nearing completion.  Nick TxP and I (let's be honest here, mostly Nick TxP), have been hard at work on it, and we're doing everything in our power to ensure an April release.
NNT #015 - Our first co-release (w/ ThirdXParty Records) is the American pressing of Poison Planet - Boycott Everything. Five tracks of intense, ripping Hardcore that sounds like CoC and Discharge really dug the Plastic Surgery Disasters LP. Uncompromisingly political, PxP is out to prove that the Vegan Straight Edge isn't about bullshit dunks or dogmatic assholes, but making a conscious effort to fight back against the industries and institutions that have their boot to your fucking neck.
Poison Planet - Boycott Everything will be a one-sided 12", with screen printed B-Side, and poster.
We can fight, We can win.
Listen Here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
April will also see the release of three new Not Normal releases. First, Self Abuse will stop being treated like an unloved stepchild, and get it's due.  Seven tracks of burly HC not unlike 86 Mentality or Urban Blight, all the way from Sweden.
After that, we're proud to announce the new era of Indianapolis HC.  NN will be simultaneously releasing the Side FX and Zodiacs demos.  Both bands rose from the ashes of Indy's finest, and I'll be damned if they don't put those to shame.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you can see from the links above, Condenada, Recide, and Poison Planet tracks have been added to the Bandcamp.  In the coming weeks, I will be uploading the full albums for not only our current stock, but also all out of print NN releases.  Stay tuned.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, due to illness and procrastination, orders will begin shipping in the next week.

Subscribers and pre-order folks can expect packages in early February.

Thanks,
Ralph and NNT
